Apple Capital of Minnesota. La Crescent has a population of 6,500, making it the largest community in Houston County, Minnesota. Houston County is renowned for it's upper Mississippi scenery and La Crescent's apple orchards. The city also features fine schools, and an active Chamber of Commerce.

Gateway to all of the scenic beauty of Southeastern Minnesota, La Crescent is uniquely located on three officially designated scenic highways and by-ways. La Crescent is the gateway to both Historic Bluff Country National Scenic Byway and Apple Blossom Scenic Drive, as well as being on the Great River Road National Scenic Byway. La Crescent is also convenient to interstate 90 at Exit 276. Railroads and barge shipping on the Mississippi are readily available.
