Enjoy a picturesque tour along the riverside, from Lake City to Wabasha, MN. Begin the tour in historic Lake City where Ralph Samuelson introduced water-skiing to the world. The town rests at an elevation of 1,000 feet, and boasts 2.5 miles of shoreline. A nine-mile trek up and down hills, and around curves along the bluff land's edge will take you through the quaint village of Camp Lacupolis with a population of 80. Following the river a short distance south is Reads Landing, MN., at the confluence of the Mississippi and Chippewa Rivers where the opportunity to spot eagles is prime. A one-mile descent ends at an elevation of 702 feet and the edge of Wabasha, MN., home of the National Eagle Center, where you will board a shuttle bus back to Lake City, MN.

This tour will have you starting in Lake City and continuing through Wabasha across the Mississippi River and past the Nelson Bottoms into Nelson, WI. Riders will get a small, but marvelous, glimpse of the most extensive river delta in the Midwest as you travel several miles through the Tiffany Wildlife Area and the Chippewa backwaters before reaching Pepin, WI. Pepin, made famous by past resident Laura Ingalls Wilder, rests at 712 feet above sea level; a hundred feet lower than Nelson. From Pepin, you make your way through rolling farmland and wooded countryside enroute to Stockholm, WI, where the Pearl of the Lake paddleboat will escort you a mile-and-a-half across the largest naturally occurring part of the Mississippi River, Lake Pepin, back to Lake City.

Experience the curves and twists of the entire Great River Road loop that surrounds Lake Pepin. The Lac Plein tour begins and ends in Lake City, MN. This tour follows the same route from Lake City in Minnesota to Stockholm in Wisconsin and continues through the Wisconsin town toward Maiden Rock, WI. The journey from Maiden Rock to Bay City, WI., is a hilly eight-mile stretch ranging in elevations of 690 feet to over 1100 feet. From Bay City, you'll follow the Great River Road back across the river into Red Wing, MN., recently named one of the top 12 historic communities in the nation for the ninth year in a row. From Red Wing to Frontenac is a 10-mile trip on scenic, winding roads. Another five miles take you back to your starting point with a sense of accomplishment and a feeling of awe. Cruising the entire circuit of Lake Pepin is an incredible mix of flat land, steep hills and winding bluff country, with an added touch of incomparable, natural beauty.
