What does it mean to be the Event and Office Coordinator at the Lake City Chamber of Commerce? Well, to me it means being able to enrich our local history and continue to support my community, which has always been a passion of mine.
Growing up in Lake City, I was witness to the stir and excitement that the local events created within the community. Driving down the slight hill to the corner of Hwy 61 and 63 on a Wednesday at the end of June and seeing the carnival being set up for Water Ski Days always brought a smile to my face! Enjoying some hot apple cider during Johnny Appleseed Days and wandering the halls at Lincoln High School to see ALL the arts and crafts available for sale was much anticipated. Seeing our community sparkle during the holidays and the lake shine in the summer time was magical. It really was a wonderful place to grow up. I was in our local Key Club all through High School and have always had interest in community events and being at the heart of something substantial. As an adult, I have had the pleasure of working with other community members to start Fall Fest in our community which has become an annual event. Our group enjoys planning and executing this event so much and we are so thankful that this community supports these events like they do! Being on this committee as a volunteer and community member was a catalyst to jumping into the job of Event and Office Coordinator with everything I have to offer.
We, at the Chamber, are on the cusp of opening registration for Tour de Pepin with a Early Bird Y-Knot Tri registration. We are always working on something for our largest event, Water Ski Days, and I’m so excited to dig into that even more as it draws closer. I have already met so many amazing business leaders, shop owners, community members and leaders. I have learned a lot about this community in the short time I have been in the position. I’m grateful that I was given the opportunity to take this role. I’m grateful to have the wonderful team in the office with Elizabeth and Ed. I’m grateful to the Board of Directors for their leadership and guidance. I have a feeling we are going to do great things for Lake City!
