Here We Go…
I hope this newsletter finds you well and settling into 2024! We have so many exciting things to share with you, so I hope you take some time to read this newsletter and mark your calendars to save the date for several upcoming events. We are just 3 months away from kicking off our first event of 2024, The Minnesota Governor’s Fishing Opener in May, with a special community event that will be held on Friday, May 10th (think Mini Water Ski Days). We already have hundreds of people signed up for Tour de Pepin (June 1) and many of the plans are finalized for the 52nd Annual Water Ski Days (June 27-30). Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks regarding these and other scheduled Chamber events.
I wanted to highlight some vital conferences that Chamber staff has attended in February. I had the honor of attending the 2024 Session Priorities in St. Paul to inaugurate the legislative session. This event unites business leaders and elected officials from across Minnesota. We had the opportunity to gain exclusive insights with a preview of the legislative agenda from those at the forefront of shaping it and engage with both political leaders and other business peers.
Following the session priorities Heather and I attended the Annual MCCE Conference (Minnesota Chamber of Commerce Executives) to learn first-hand about growing our chamber, enhancing our leadership skills, and attending educational sessions on public policy so we can better support your organization.
Finally, Ed, Heather, and I attended the 2024 Explore Minnesota Tourism Conference just this week. This was a special event with several key note speakers and breakout sessions focusing on the current state of Minnesota tourism and what the future has in store. Our very own, Ed Hoffman, was a finalist for a distinct award given out by Explore Minnesota called “Emerging Leader”. We are so proud of Ed and lucky to have his expertise and skillset to support and grow tourism in Lake City.
Again, we have several exciting things in store for our community in the coming months. The Chamber couldn’t plan and execute events without the partnership and support of our community members and businesses, so thank you. I also encourage you to please consider showcasing your business at our events by either sponsoring or volunteering your time to help. We really, couldn’t do it without YOU!
Kindest Regards,
Elizabeth
