Lake City, MN - Chamber of Commerce - Lighthouse Drone View

Momentum

What a weekend! Water Ski Days 2025 was an incredible celebration of community, and we couldn’t have done it without the unwavering support of our sponsors, volunteers, and partners. The weather held out beautifully, allowing us to host all four scheduled ski shows and competitions—each one thrilling the crowd and impressing the competitors, who were so excited to perform in Lake City.

From the arts & crafts fair to the car show, carnival, beer tent, and parade, every part of the weekend was buzzing with energy and excitement. Thank you to everyone who played a part and to all who attended. Your support and enthusiasm continue to make Water Ski Days one of Minnesota’s premier summer events.

As we shift into August, we’ve got more great events on the horizon! On Saturday, August 9, we’ll host the Y-Knot Tri—registration is still open, so there’s time to sign up and take on the challenge. That same day, starting at 10 a.m. at Ohuta Park, we’ll kick off our Food Truck Festival and Beach Party! Enjoy delicious food, yard games, live music, and a relaxing day by the lake.

Our Business After Hoursevents have been booming in 2025. These informal gatherings are a great opportunity to connect with fellow business owners and community members. If you’ve never attended one, consider this your invitation! Join us this week, Thursday, July 31st at First Alliance Credit Union, 201 N. 8th St. Interested in hosting? We have one spot left in December, and we’re already booking for 2026—reach out to the Chamber office if you’d like to be featured.

On the development side, we’re excited to share a few initiatives in motion. Ed is collaborating with Explore Minnesota to position Lake City as a film-ready communityan exciting prospect that could open new opportunities for local exposure and economic activity. Annie and I have also been working closely with Doug Grout at the Lake City Port Authority on several key areas of economic development, including downtown beautification, small business growth, childcare access, and affordable housing.

There is so much momentum in Lake City right now. We’re grateful to be part of it and look forward to what’s ahead.

See you around town,

Heather Thomas
