As we roll into summer, things are buzzing here at the Lake City Chamber! We’re just one week away from Tour de Pepin and one month out from Water Ski Days—two incredible events that showcase the best of our community. A huge thank you to all the businesses who stepped up to sponsor these events. Your support makes it all possible, and we truly couldn’t do it without you.
But there’s been more happening behind the scenes than just event planning.
Over the past several months, I’ve had the opportunity to participate in the Executive Leadership Program through the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce. It’s been a valuable chance to connect with newer Executive Directors across the state and gain insight and strategies to better serve Lake City.
We also recently partnered with the Red Wing Chamber of Commerce to host an educational session on the upcoming changes to Paid Family and Medical Leave, set to take effect in January 2026. Keeping our members informed and prepared is a key part of our mission.
On the local front, we’re working closely with the Lake City Port Authority to push forward important economic development efforts, collaboration that we hope will lead to continued growth and new opportunities for our community.
We’ve welcomed several new members recently and are excited to bring even more energy to Water Ski Days this year, with new ski programming made possible by our generous sponsors at Treasure Island and Legacy Skis.
I also want to take a moment to recognize our incredible team. Annie has been absolutely rocking her new role as Event and Office Coordinator, bringing enthusiasm, creativity, and organization to everything she touches. And Ed has been instrumental in elevating our tourism initiatives and supporting our marketing efforts with professionalism and ease. I’m so proud of the work we’re doing together.
It’s been a fast-paced (and let’s be honest—crazy!) five months, but we’re making progress, growing stronger, and having fun along the way.
Don’t forget to sign up to volunteer at Water Ski Days, and let’s kick off summer in true Lake City style!
With gratitude,
Heather Thomas
